Kodiac gelding tops Hong Kong International Sale (July)

Son of Kodiac
Lot 16 fetches HK$4.8 million at last night’s sale.

A son of Kodiac topped the Hong Kong International Sale (July) held at the Sha Tin Racecourse Parade Ring last night, Friday, 5 July, as 20 lots sold for an aggregate of HK$48.8 million.

The sale average was a solid HK$2.44 million while the median was HK$2.3 million. The hammer fell at HK$4.8 million for the sale-topper (Lot 16), an Irish-bred half-brother to US Group 2 winner Ramazutti.

Another Lot to catch bidders’ eyes was a white-faced son of the great Frankel out of the Group 3 sprint winner Noelani (Lot 17). The French-bred gelding sold for HK$4.5 million.

Mr. Andrew Harding, the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Executive Director, Racing, said: “We are very pleased with the results tonight. The sale was well-supported by owners and I think they got good value, which is important as our sales are all about providing opportunities for our owners. Overall, the results met our expectations: the average of HK$2.44 million is healthy and in the current market it was a very good result.”

Also among the night’s highlights was a New Zealand-bred Darci Brahma gelding (Lot 2), bought for HK$3.5 million.
