King Of Leogrance Scratching

In a cruel blow to connections of King Of Leogrance, the 6YO gelding has been scratched from the 2020 Melbourne Cup after a veterinary examination on Tuesday morning.

The Danny O’Brien stable had requested for Racing Victoria to send out a vet to their stables in order to run their eye over the $61 shot in the Melbourne Cup and in the process of doing so found the gelding to be lame in its off fore leg.

The Lloyd Williams owned ex-import looked to have been building nicely into his campaign after not being beaten far in the Geelong Cup which was taken out by Steel Prince a fortnight ago.

With the late scratching of King Of Leogrance it opens up the discussion as to why we do not have any emergencies for the race that stops that nation. We are now down to a field of 23 and in the meantime one of the best jockeys in the country in Damian Lane is now without a ride in the Melbourne Cup.

The Melbourne Cup jumps at its traditional time slot of 3pm AEDT and is Race 7 in a blockbuster ten race card at Flemington on the first Tuesday in November. The runner-by-runner guide will take you through all the other possibilities on who will take out the 2020 Melbourne Cup.
