Kah full of praise for Dollar For Dollar

A win in a feature race on Zipping Classic day at Sandown has been all the more special for Adelaide’s premier jockey Jamie Kah because it has come on her favourite horse.

The Tony McEvoy-trained Dollar For Dollar capped his spring preparation in his first stakes test on Saturday, winning the Group Three Sandown Stakes (1500m) to make it four-straight wins this campaign.

Kah has ridden Dollar For Dollar in all of those victories and rates Saturday’s win in the Group Three race the biggest of her career to date.

“Because it’s him, it’s number one,” Kah said.

“I’ve won a Group Three before, but that was unbelievable.

“I just love this horse. I love how much heart he has. He’s probably got enough talent to win a race like this but he’s got a heart to win a Group One.”

Dollar For Dollar won two benchmark races in Adelaide earlier this preparation before coming to Melbourne where he has added two more wins.

McEvoy said the gelding would now spend some time at his farm to freshen up before returning in the Chester Manifold Stakes in Melbourne in January.

Dollar For Dollar ($4.40) sat just off leader Hellova Street ($6) before levelling up inside the final 300m.

He went on to beat Hellova Street by a long neck with three-quarters of a length to Moss ‘n’ Dale ($3) third.

“That was a solid race today and he’s taken another step up,” McEvoy said.
