DOUBT I’m Dreaming turned heads in its competitive racing debut at the beginning of March, but the colt’s trainer John McArdle said another eye-catching display will not deviate his plans for the talented prospect.

The two-year-old’s stocks rose significantly on the back of its two-length maiden win at Moonee Valley at the beginning of March, and the general consensus around the racing community following the race is that the colt could be the next big thing in Australian racing.

The Not A Single Doubt progeny is one of the hottest colts in Victoria right now, but McArdle is not getting ahead of himself ahead of Saturday’s Thoroughbred Club Cup at Caulfield on Saturday.

“If he repeats that he’ll be very competitive,” a cagey McArdle told HorseBetting.com.au.

“He’s a two-year-old, so some days they’re there and some days they’re not, but everything seems to be well with him heading into Saturday.

“He’s nice, bright and happy and his usual self so we’re expecting him to run well.”

Doubt I’m Dreaming is the -133.33 fixed odds favourite at Crownbet.com.au to win the Thoroughbred Club Cub at Caulfield on Saturday.

Such was the dominance of the two-year-old colt’s debut win at Moonee Valley, China Horse Club and Newgate Farm pounced quickly to secure a 25 per cent interest.

Despite the buzz around the colt, the team will not be forced into over-racing the talented two-year-old to appease the masses.

McArdle confirmed that the listed Thoroughbred Club Cup on Saturday is going to be Doubt I’m Dreaming’s final run this preparation.

“Win, lose or draw he’ll be heading to the paddock.”

Not satisfied torching its rivals on debut, Doubt I’m Dreaming won its return trial comfortably last Friday at Cranbourne, which generated additional hype around the two-year-old.
The trainer is confident the colt can make a big impact when the whips are cracking later in the year.

“We’ll be setting him for the races in the spring.

“He’ll either be headed to the Caulfield Guineas or the Coolmore (Stud Stakes).”

McArdle said Saturday’s run will have no impact on the decision of which feature Doubt I’m Dreaming runs in, with the trainer content on taking a wait-and-see approach.

“It will be what he does when he comes back.”
