Joe Osborne will replace John Ferguson as chief executive of Godolphin’s global racing operation.

Ferguson quit the position earlier this month after trainer Saeed bin Suroor publicly exposed tensions between his stable and that of Charlie Appleby.

Osborne, who has been acting as the interim chief executive has now been confirmed in the top job in a permanent capacity.

He has worked for Sheikh Mohammed’s organisation since 1994, principally leading the operation in Ireland and the Godolphin Flying Start program.

“It is an honour to be entrusted with this role and I look forward to working with our global team to achieve racing and breeding success for Sheikh Mohammed and his family,” Osborne said.
