Jockey Jeff Felix released from hospital

North Queensland jockey Jeff Felix has been released from hospital, a week after suffering serious injuries in a fall at Home Hill.

Felix, 45, suffered numerous injuries including a fractured skill and ruptured spleen when he fell from Mytang shortly after the start of a race last Saturday.

Felix spent time in the Townsville Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit but was transferred to the general ward early last week after concerns about his spleen injury were relieved.

He has since been released to his home where he will be confined to bed while his recovery continues.

Stewards will re-open an inquiry into the fall when Felix is well enough to attend.
