Jennifer Lynn claims her first city win
Lightly raced filly Jennifer Lynn has taken the step to city racing in her stride, winning the first race of the day at the Caulfield Cup meeting.
The Darren Weir-trained filly went into Saturday’s Mypunter.com Plate (1400m) for fillies at Caulfield a winner of two of her three starts with her victories coming at Werribee on debut last season and at Coleraine last month.
Blake Shinn had Jennifer Lynn ($11) midfield with cover before peeling out into the clear from the top of the straight and the filly went home to score by a neck over Petition with a long neck to Swampland third.
Weir’s racing manager Jeremy Rogers said despite the filly coming off a win in country Victoria, the form had stood up.
“The horse that she beat that day came out and won at Bendigo last week and they beat the third horse pretty easily,” he said.
Rogers said they would let the dust settle before deciding where Jennifer Lynn heads next.
The filly stills holds a VRC Oaks nomination and tightened from $51 to $26 for the Group One Classic.
