James Ross joins ATC in senior racing role

Victorian racing administrator James Ross is to join the Australian Turf Club in Sydney as a senior executive.

Ross will fill the role to be left vacant by the impending retirement of long-time racing manager Col Tuck after 40 years with the AJC and the ATC.

Ross, who has more than 15 years experience in the racing industry both in Australia and overseas, has been appointed as general manager – Racing, Wagering and International.

His key roles include the development of Sydney race programming, attracting more international competitors to the autumn and spring carnivals and to grow wagering revenue.

Formerly with the Hong Kong Jockey Club and the Australian Racing Board, Ross joined the Victoria Racing Club as the racing development and strategy manager in August 2014.

“There is no doubt that Sydney racing is amongst the most competitive in the world and I am looking forward to continuing to elevate it on the world stage,” Ross said.

Ross will begin with the club at the end of this month.
