Jackson Murphy will miss plum rides including Cadogan (l) after hurting his hand in a race fall.

Brisbane’s leading apprentice Jackson Murphy’s momentum has been halted after he damaged his hand in a race fall which could sideline him for up to two months.

Murphy fell from Granny Red Shoes in the middle stages of Saturday’s Vo Rogue Stakes at Doomben, hurting his right hand.

He was cleared of any broken bones but has ligament damage which may need surgery.

Murphy, who earlier rode Brains to win on Saturday, is the leading Brisbane metropolitan apprentice with 17 winners so far this season.

He is indentured to Chris Anderson who told Racing Queensland Murphy was likely to be out for six to eight weeks.

Among the rides he will miss is the Toby Edmonds-trained Cadogan who is headed to the Magic Millions Cup on Saturday week after winning his past three starts with Murphy aboard.
