Ipswich set to race despite rain

Stewards will inspect a rain-soaked Ipswich track but officials are confident the midweek meeting will go ahead.

Ipswich has had 109mm of rain since Saturday and was rated a heavy 10 on Tuesday morning with further light showers predicted.

Officials are confident that unless there is unexpected heavy rain, Wednesday’s meeting will go ahead.

Chief steward Allan Reardon said stewards would walk the Ipswich track late on Tuesday.

Saturday’s meeting is at Doomben, which also has had more than 110mm but it is in no danger at this stage.
