Wednesday racing tips for Ipswich

Eight races will be run and won at Ipswich from 12:43pm on Wednesday afternoon. The track is rated a Soft 7, with the rail out +9.5m for the entire circumference of the course. Let’s take a look at the latest odds and value bets on offer at Australia’s best online bookmakers.

Best BetRace 2 – Kipchoge (#3) $2.40 with Sportsbet

Tony Gollan and Robbie Fradd combine in the second with three-start maiden Kipchoge. After placing third in his last two starts, he looks ready to go third up in a weak 1350m maiden. Despite being drawn the outside in the seven-horse field, Fradd will cross over and lead them on his own without any pressure. The gelding comes out of some good form races behind Hidden Hail and Danezel, and he should be suited by the rise to 1350m. Only 10c separate Kipchoge and Palladas at the top of the market, yet our pick beat his main rival home last start. They stay at level weights, so we expect Kipchoge can beat him home again.

Next BestRace 4 – Alderman (#4) $2 with Sportsbet

It looks a day for favourites on Wednesday, and we think Alderman can justify his position at the top of the market. Out of barrier one, Justin Huxtable will kick through and lead on a track that we presume will favour those on the pace. Huxtable’s 1.5kg claim gets Alderman down to 57.5kg, which will allow him to be ridden as the best horse in the race. While he hasn’t won in five runs this prep, he should enjoy the rise to 1710m, second up after a six-week rest. This looks his go.

Best ValueRace 8 – Make A Ruler (#4) $35 with Sportsbet

Steph Thornton hops aboard Make A Ruler in the last race on the program. Despite lacklustre form over his last two starts, he flies second up (5:1-2-0) and loves 1200m. From barrier four, Thornton should find the fence, park behind the leaders and be presented with every chance in the straight. Four starts back, the gelding won a race at Warwick, that form that has produced five subsequent winners. His next two failures were in tougher races and he now drops in grade. While he is a seven-year-old and a big price, we can make an each-way case for him.
