Ipswich racing tips & quaddie picks – Wednesday, 17 June 2020
A massive 10-race program will be run and won at Ipswich on Wednesday for Queensland’s midweek metropolitan racing. The track is rated in the soft range with a few showers around. The rail will be out 3.5m for the entire circumference of the course. Race 1 is set for a bright and early start at 11:23am AEST.
Wednesday betting tips for Ipswich
Race 9 – Amiche @ $1.40
David Vandyke’s 3yo filly Amiche will go around in the penultimate in a 1200m Class 1. Last start, she won by the length of the Sunshine Coast straight as a very short-priced favourite. The Nicconi filly drops 2.5kg on that run and finds an easy Class 1 to make it back-to-back wins. From barrier two, Micheal Hellyer will get her in a forward spot where she can kick strongly. In her only attempt at 1200m, she was beaten narrowly to finish second. She looks to be flying at the minute and should be far too good again.
Race 3 – Dark Son @ $1.80
Dark Son finds a very winnable race here over the 800m course in the third. He was run down late last start over the 1000m at Toowoomba, so it looks as though the drop in trip back to the short course will be ideal. Last campaign he ran third to Rothfire, which bodes well for a race like this. Drawn the outside in a field of five isn’t a great cause of concern with just the one turn before the straight. Michael Cahill should give him a lovely steer and win what is a pretty thin race.
Race 10 – Hail Manhattan @ $6.50
Peter and Will Hulbert’s 3yo gelding Hail Manhattan has been racing well without winning and looks to find a suitable run to get back into the winners’ stall in the last at Ipswich. Adin Thompson won on the gelding two months ago at the Sunshine Coast and so will be hoping for a change of luck in this. Drawn the outside in barrier 18 is far from ideal, but he will come in a couple after scratchings and get back from the draw regardless. His fourth behind Plenty three starts back is great form for this, so we are keen to play each way.
