What Ipswich Cup Day 2025
Where Ipswich Turf Club – 219 Brisbane Rd, Bundamba QLD 4304
When Saturday, June 21, 2025
First Race 11:43am AEST

The Queensland Racing Carnival heads to Ipswich on Saturday afternoon, when the Listed Ipswich Cup will headline a massive nine-race card. The track is expected to improve from the Soft 5 rating to a perfect Good 4 surface by raceday. The rail will be in the +0.5m position for the entire circuit, with the opening race scheduled to jump at 11:43am AEST.

Ipswich Cup tip: Diablo Bolt

Diablo Bolt appears to be working up to a win after running sixth and fourth over 1600m and 1800m, respectively. This son of Hellbent will appreciate a rise in trip to 2150m third-up, a distance he is yet to finish outside the top two at from both attempts. If Robbie Dolan can settle in the first six from barrier five, Diablo Bolt’s turn of foot will give him every chance to sprint past his rivals in the final 300m of the 2025 Ipswich Cup.

Eye Liner Stakes tip: Warnie

After being slowly away from the barriers and flashing home at the end of 1200m in the Group 2 Moreton Cup, Warnie will get every chance to record another win in the Eye Liner Stakes. The Ciaron Maher-trained gelding had to weave a passage from the back of the field to finish third last start, beaten 1.1 lengths by Front Page. As long as Warnie doesn’t miss the start and gets even luck throughout the 1350m contest, he will prove extremely hard to beat.

Gai Waterhouse Classic tip: Kin

Although Kin has had many chances since returning from a spell three starts back, James Cummings has announced that the five-year-old mare will have blinkers on for the first time in the Gai Waterhouse Classic. The daughter of Impending finished off nicely in Listed grade over 1200m to run into fourth place on a Soft track in her most recent run. Now that she gets back onto a Good surface and gets the blinkers on, Kin will give this race a big shake at good each-way odds with horse racing bookmakers.

Best Bet at Ipswich: Redford

Redford was seemingly only beaten by his massive weight of 61kg last start, peaking on his run late to finish third behind Harbourmaster. The son of Snitzel settled back in the pack and ran on strongly to hit the front at the 200m mark before being run down in the final 50m of the 1400m contest. Even though he rises in class and drops slightly in distance, Redford is one of the better bets on a tough card at Ipswich.
