Inglis Sires Produce form, odds and free tips – The Championships

Inglis Sires' Produce

AUSTRALIA’S most talented juveniles go into battle this Saturday for the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ Produce and what a field on display.

20 runners have been accepted to run over 1400m for the $1 million prize and the form has come out of the Golden Slipper, Blue Diamond Stakes and there’s even some international form involved.

Sorting through the form of 20 runners which haven’t had much exposed form can be tricky, so we’ve done the hard work to make punting easier for you this Saturday.

The Sires’ Produce is one of the most exciting races on the card throughout both days of The Championships so sign up with our recommended bookmakers for the best odds and deals available this Saturday.

Punters are only showing confidence in a handful of runners in the Inglis Sires’ Produce which includes Golden Slipper runner-up Frolic.

The two-year-old opened at $5 and has firmed into $4.80, which isn’t the biggest move ever, but it’s sizable given the lack of support elsewhere in the market.

Tulip has stayed steady at $6 throughout the week and the only other move has come for Gunnison which opened at $11 and is now into $9.50.

The other runners are either drifting or holding firm, so punters are getting some great value in what is a wide open betting race.

Sires’ Produce top pick – Frolic

Frolic has yet to put a foot wrong in its five start career and whilst there are things going against it, the filly has plenty of ability.

The Michael Freedman-trained two-year-old has drawn wide in barrier 16 which could be seen as a negative, but they will likely be coursing wide in the straight so it shouldn’t worry it.

This will also be the daughter of Husson’s sixth start as a two-year-old and after a tough run in the Golden Slipper where it finished second, it might come into this race feeling the pinch.

That being said Frolic is unbeaten in two starts on this track, it handles the wet tracks and it has been searching for more ground which it gets here.

Jockey Tommy Berry has a good record in these types of races and we think Frolic is worth a bet at +380 with Sportsbet.com.au.

Sires’ Produce next best tip – Chauffeur

Seeing barrier 20 is enough to put most punters off, but we’re taking the risk with this two-year-old which has been searching for this trip.

The Gerald Ryan-trained colt has looked like 1400m would be ideal after running on stylishly when second in the Magic Millions Classic behind Houtzen.

It has since run fifth in the Black Opal and ninth in the Golden Slipper, but not everything has gone its way over the last couple of starts and we’re not giving up yet.

The son of Snitzel would appreciate some easing of the surface, but we still think it could be the forgotten horse either way. It almost won the Magic Millions at odds of $19 and punters are getting almost the same odds for the Sires’ Produce.

This won’t be the most conventional pick for this race, but two-year-old form can fluctuate significantly and Chauffeur has the ability to improve out of sight.

Best value pick – Gunnison

There is plenty of hype surrounding the chances of Gunnison and it’s our value pick because punters are still able to get +850 at Ladbrokes.com.au.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained gelding scored by a half-length on debut at Canberra before winning the Todman Stakes on a heavy track at Randwick.

The Todman is always a good form race and it showed punters that it can handle the wet conditions. It used plenty of early pace and despite looking beaten in the straight it continued to fight off the challenge from Invader.

It should get a good trip in transit from barrier 14 and it could follow the speed from Summer Passage (barrier 13) which is a noted front-runner. That will give it a perfect sit and we think punters will continue to back Gunnison into a shorter price.

Sires’ Produce blow out chance – The Mission

Every now and then the big races like to throw in a big upset result and this race looks ideal for punters targetting the big place prices.

The Mission fits the bill after winning the Baillieu Stakes at Rosehill last start on a heavy track. The Paul Perry-trained colt had excellent gate speed which will help in this and it’s on the quick back-up.

Its form prior is relatively irrelevant so put a line through any concerns there and take the +850 to place at Sportsbet.com.au.

That price is worth taking and although punters are taking an obvious risk, we rate The Mission as a $21 chance, not a $34 chance like bookmakers have framed.
