Influential breeder Colin McAlpine dies

Respected Queensland breeder and racehorse owner Colin McAlpine has died.

McAlpine took over Eureka Stud on the Darling Downs from his father Andy in the 1960s with Group One winners Show A Heart, Temple Of Boom and Spirit Of Boom among his successes.

Thoroughbred Breeders Queensland president Basil Nolan said McAlpine was a pioneer of shuttle stallions and his influence had a major impact on the state’s racing and breeding industries.
