Best Bet at Sha Tin: Morgan Success
The Douglas Whyte-trained Morgan Success is yet to claim victory in his four Hong Kong starts, but he had clear excuses in his latest outing at this course and distance on April 27. The son of Siyouni was set to pounce on his rivals before being held up at crucial stage, unable to sustain his run through a checkered passage. Lyle Hewitson gets the opportunity to sit handier from gate six, and provided the breaks fall his way, Morgan Success will prove hard to hold out at a good price with horse racing bookmakers.
Best Bet
Race 10 – #14 Morgan Success (6)
4yo Gelding | T: Douglas Whyte | J: Lyle Hewitson (56kg)
Next Best at Sha Tin: Aurora Patch
Aurora Patch was no match for Masterofmyuniverse at Sha Tin on April 27, but he stuck on gamely to get within 2.8 lengths of a very progressive galloper. He drops back into Class 4 company for the first time, and although he needs the lug 61kg to victory, the son of Showtime should be aided by the services of Zac Purton. Expect the star hoop to take luck out of the equation and lead from barrier nine as Aurora Patch chases a maiden Hong Kong victory at start eight.
Next Best
Race 6 – #1 Aurora Patch (9)
4yo Gelding | T: Pierre Ng | J: Zac Purton (61kg)
Best Value at Sha Tin: Dancing Classics
Dancing Classics looks well prepared for his debut after catching the eye in a barrier trial at Conghua on April 25. The Press Statement gelding wasn’t asked for much, dropping back towards the rear of the field before cruising through the wire under his own steam. Hugh Bowman gets legged aboard under race-day conditions, and provided Dancing Classics can handle the Sha Tin straight, this guy should figure in the finish at an each-way price with Dabble.
Best Value
Race 5 – #4 Dancing Classics (12)
4yo Gelding | T: Caspar Fownes | J: Hugh Bowman (57.5kg)
