Hayes-Dabernig hopefuls firming in 2017 Sydney Cup betting

2017 Sydney Cup Boom Time & Harlem
THERE has been a swell of support for two of the outside chances ahead of Saturday’s 2017 Sydney Cup replay.

Online bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au has taken several bets on Harlem, which has plunged from +5000 into +3300 for the two-mile Group 1.

Boom Time, another stayer from the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig stables, has shortened from +2000 into +1800.

“The Hayes-Dabernig partnership is a strong one and the fact that money is coming for Boom Time and Harlem is a good lead for punters looking for value,” said Sportsbet’s Christian Jantzen.

Polarisation was first across the line in last week’s abandoned run at Randwick, yet the Godolphin hopeful has drifted out half a point to +550 since then.

So too has the four-year-old gelding’s stablemate, Penglai Pavilion, which is now paying +450 for the win.

Kiwi stalwart Who Shot Thebarman has also eased out a touch, from +1200 to +1300, as has Lasqueti Spirit (+900 to +1000), Tally (+1000 to +1100) and Chance To Dance (+1300 to +1400).

The general consensus is that all will be chasing Big Duke.

The Darren Weir-trained favourite has not budged from his +220 quote, despite the news that Glen Boss will replace the suspended Craig Williams in the saddle.
