Hawkesbury racing preview & betting tips

Nine races will be run and won at Hawkesbury on Wednesday afternoon to make up for the meeting that was postponed six days ago. The track is rated a Soft 5, and the rail is in the true position for the entirety of the course. The first race will jump at 1:25pm AEDT.

Best BetRace 5 – Sahra (#5) $1.70 with Sportsbet

Peter and Paul Snowden have been careful where they’ve placed this Hinchinbrook filly for her first-up run this campaign, but Wednesday looks to be the day we see her step out. She has had just two runs, both as a two-year-old, where she won on debut convincingly before running second to the very talented North Pacific. Her racing pattern to date has seen her settle in the back half of the field, so we expect Tommy Berry to ride her conservatively from barrier four. She could be a force to be reckoned with this campaign and the next.

Next BestRace 3 – Edmond (#4) $2.30 with Sportsbet

Another from the Snowden yard is three-start maiden Edmond. He consistently runs well as favourite but has always run into one better than him in Concealed, Pyrmont and Toscanini. This looks a good race for Regan Bayliss to control the tempo, as there doesn’t appear to be any other speed in the field. Second up and a slight rise in trip should suit this colt, who has always offered something.

Best ValueRace 4 – Buba (#5) $4.20 with Sportsbet

We gave a push for Buba a little while ago, but she was withdrawn the morning of that race, and then we missed her when she went around at Kensington on October 28 as a $20 outsider and absolutely motored home to finish third. She is a winner second up before, and the sting out of the ground will suit. The daughter of Adelaide came from near last in her most recent run, so we anticipate that Robbie Dolan will snag her back again from gate five, allow her to relax and utilise that brilliant turn of foot to finish over the top of what should be a genuine tempo. While she is second elect in the market, we believe she is over the odds and should be even money.
