Kinane horse racing news
Kinane is the hot favourite for Saturday’s G3 Gunsynd Classic at Eagle Farm.

Fourteen 3yo horses will face the starter at 2:55pm AEST this Saturday at Eagle Farm in the Group 3 Gunsynd Classic over 1800m. Kinane is the current even-money favourite from the Chris Waller stable but will have to overcome the visitor’s draw. Profit, Ballistic Boy and Skyhorse are the only other runners in single figures. There doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed engaged in the race, with Supergiant likely to be the sole pacemaker from his low barrier.

2020 Gunsynd Classic betting tips

Best Bet
Supergiant @ $13 Sportsbet

Supergiant was brilliant last start when running second behind Vanna Girl in the 1615m Daybreak Lover at Doomben and we cannot see any reason to go past him, especially at the each-way price. From barrier five (four once emergencies come out), Allan Chau will cross to the fence and look to lead the field. Last start he led and only got run down on the line, proving too strong for a lot of his main rivals in this. We believe Michael Costa’s gelding can make it three wins from five attempts in what will be his toughest test to date.

Next Best
Profit @ $5.50

Chris Anderson has two great chances in Profit and Ballistic Boy and we think they can both figure in the finish. The former, by Dundeel, looks to have been screaming to get out over further this campaign and will get the opportunity here. Profit has never missed a place at his home track and is one from one at the 1800m. Drawn in barrier two, James Orman will find a midfield spot on the fence and charge home late.

Value Bet
Ballistic Boy @ $2.70 place Sportsbet

Although Ballistic Boy is drawn wide in barrier 14, there doesn’t appear to be much speed inside him and so he could cross over and find the box seat. Coming off a third in the Daybreak Lover, the rise in trip looks to suit the son of Smart Missile. He has been in great form this preparation, finishing in the first four in all of his runs so far, and we think he can finish thereabouts again. Brad Stewart stays on, which is a promising sign, but he does look the lesser chance out of the two Anderson runners.

One to Watch
Kinane @ $2.05 Sportsbet

Short-priced favourite Kinane has to be respected, but from the outside barrier, drop back in distance and first time racing in Queensland, we are happy to just watch him go around this time. Where Ryan Maloney gets him in the run from the carpark draw is a big query and if he can’t find a spot early, he may have to do too much work and lack a fitness edge on some of these gallopers deeper into their preps. A win certainly won’t surprise, but we are happy to wait until next start for the Reliable Man gelding.
