Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes barrier draw and updated market

Moonee Valley

THE $250,000 Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes is the feature race at Moonee Valley on Saturday and the final field market has just been released.

The barrier draw has also been finalised with current favourite and former Hong Kong hose Tosen Stardom receiving a favourable barrier of five.

It should be an interesting start from the 1600m point at Moonee Valley as noted leaders The Cleaner (11) and Miss Rose de Lago (15) both drawing wide.

This could allow the staying types such as Signoff, Excess Knowledge and Set Square to put themselves in the race early and give long-shot punters a chance.

Both Tosen Stardom and Miss Rose de Lago have drifted in the final field market. Both opened a half-point shorter with CrownBet.com.au, but such is the overall trend in the market.

CrownBet hasn’t taken any significant early action on any runner. Among the drifters include The United States which opened at $6.50 and is now at $8, Jameka ($6.50-$7.50) and also Mahuta which has also drifted out a half-point from $6.50 to $7.

The Cleaner is shooting for three consecutive wins in this race, but has drifted from its opening quote of $13. The two-time winner is now $15 after drawing wide in barrier 11 which will make crossing to the rails tough.

Excess Knowledge is a runner which could benefit from drawing an inside barrier and after touching $31, it has now been backed into its original quote of $26. On the same line is Awesome Rock which hasn’t attracted any support after finishing well down the track in the P.B. Lawrence Stakes last start.
