Gold Coast racing tips & best bets – Friday, 26 June 2020

Gold Coast horse racing

Queensland racing heads to Gold Coast on Friday afternoon for nine-race card. The track is rated a Soft 6 as of midday Thursday, but with a clear forecast predicted, we could be racing on a Soft 5 or even a good-rated track. The rail will be in the true position for the entire 1885m course circumference. Race 1 is scheduled to jump at 11:12am AEST.

Friday racing tips for Gold Coast

Best Bet
Race 6 – Deep Seeded @ $1.80

Ryan Maloney and the Bryan & Daniel Guy stable combine with promising 3yo Deep Seeded in a 1400m Maiden Plate. The Muhtathir gelding has had two career starts, finishing as the bridesmaid on both occasions behind smart horses Reus and Savaspur. He was backed into favouritism last start at Doomben but found himself in a bumping dual with the third placegetter at about the 300m mark and by the time he levelled up and sprinted, the winner was off and gone. This looks a much more suitable race, however, as Maloney will find a spot midfield from barrier four and be chiming in at the business end over what looks an ideal distance. We expect Deep Seeded to breaking through in this.

Next Best
Race 8 – Youngblood @ $1.80

Ryan Maloney’s great book continues in the 2200m Benchmark 65 contest. Youngblood was a dominant 4.3-length winner at this track and trip a fortnight ago when he broke his maiden status on a Heavy 10 track as a very short favourite. He got it all his own way on that occasion and should be able to repeat that effort here from barrier two. There looks to be no speed in the race outside of him and Lady Solerno, so he should find the front and make every post a winner. The Sacred Falls 3yo looks a strong win bet.

Best Value
Race 6 – Erringhi Spring @ $3.80

Barry Lockwood’s mare Erringhi Spring finds herself in a much more suitable race here in a Class 4 1300m event. The 4yo found herself in some hotly contested races over the Brisbane Carnival, racing well in Saturday grade without winning. She has won at the Gold Coast in the past and should get every chance from barrier eight under Sean Cormack, who has ridden the mare four times for two placings. She won’t be far away in the run, most likely landing leaders back. She doesn’t win out of turn, with her last coming seven months ago, but she looks to be going well enough to win this.
