What A.D. Hollindale Stakes Day 2025
Where Gold Coast Turf Club – Racecourse Dr, Bundall QLD 4217
When Saturday, May 10, 2025
First Race 12:33pm AEST

The Group 2 A.D. Hollindale Stakes will headline a massive nine-race card at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday, May 10. With more rain forecast across the weekend, it is expected that the track will be no better than the initial Soft 7 rating. The rail will be in its true position for the entire circuit, with racing set to kick off at 12:33pm AEST.

A.D. Hollindale Stakes tip: Bois D’argent

Bois D’argent ran away from his rivals over 2000m in the Group 3 JRA Plate following a perfectly timed front-running ride by Ethan Brown. The Annabel & Rob Archibald-trained gelding was made to work early before cruising to victory by 2.3 lengths over Heazashocka. Joshua Parr will take over for Brown on Saturday, and if he can lead or settle behind the pace from barrier three, Bois D’argent will prove hard to run down once again at a big price with PlayUp.

Race 7 – #5 Bois D’argent (3)

8yo Gelding | T: Annabel & Rob Archibald | J: Joshua Parr (59kg)

Gold Coast Guineas tip: Spicy Martini

Toby Edmonds and Stephen McLean would have been very happy with Spicy Martini’s tough win in the Listed Mick Dittman Plate first-up, where she settled on speed and fought gamely to defeat Zoubaby. This daughter of Justify has won three of her four career starts and appears ready to take on Group 3 grade in her fifth start. From barrier one, Kyle Wilson-Taylor can hold his position on the fence, settle in the box seat, and give Spicy Martini every chance to win again.

Race 6 – #9 Spicy Martini (1)

3yo Filly | T: Toby Edmonds & Stephen McLean | J: Kyle Wilson-Taylor (55kg)

Ken Russell Memorial Classic tip: Beadman

It is hard to go past Beadman in the Ken Russell Memorial Classic after he saluted as an odds-on favourite with horse racing bookmakers at Newcastle. The Peter Snowden-prepared colt never looked as though he was in trouble, as he led the field up and pulled clear late to win by two lengths. If James McDonald can settle Beadman in the first four from a good barrier (4), his class will shine through.

Race 5 – #3 Beadman (4)

2yo Colt | T: Peter Snowden | J: James McDonald (57kg)

Best Bet at Gold Coast: John Rambo

John Rambo has won both of his starts this campaign in dominant fashion, and it appears he has returned a much better horse this time in. At Doomben last start, the Tony Gollan-trained gelding was ridden confidently before exploding in the final 300m to claim an arrogant four-length win. Although he has drawn a wide barrier in this contest, expect John Rambo to settle midfield before unleashing a blistering turn of foot late.

Best Bet

Race 2 – #8 John Rambo (11)

5yo Gelding | T: Tony Gollan | J: Martin Harley (58kg)

Next Best at Gold Coast: Need Some Luck

Even though Need Some Luck had absolutely none of it last start, the Peter Snowden-trained gelding proved way too good for his rivals over 1200m in BM88 company at Randwick. The son of Rubick settled three wide without cover but still battled on gamely to claim a half-length victory over City Of Lights, who has franked the form by winning at Group 3 level since. If Tommy Berry can settle in the one-one position from barrier seven, Need Some Luck can claim back-to-back wins.

Next Best

Race 4 – #12 Need Some Luck (7)

4yo Gelding | T: Peter Snowden | J: Tommy Berry (54kg)
