Godolphin to have Magic Millions runner

The powerful Godolphin operation will have a runner at the Magic Millions carnival after Kinsachi earned a wild card at Eagle Farm.

Godolphin mainly race homebred horses and rarely have runners in races which are sales restricted.

However, Saturday’s Listed Nudgee Quality carried a wild card into the Magic Millions Fillies and Mares race on January 14 at the Gold Coast.

Stable representative Darren Beadman said the mare would now press on to the Millions race.

“John (trainer O’Shea) has had the Millions race in mind for her for a while. But we always knew she would need to win today to get in,” Beadman said.

“Kinsachi is an improving mare and that was her third win on end. She wouldn’t be without a chance in the Millions.”

Leading Brisbane jockey Jeff Lloyd had one of his rare rides for Godolphin but impressed Beadman, a former champion jokey.

“We told him to get her out and race on the pace and that is just what he did,” Beadman said.

Toowoomba trainer Kevin Kemp was left to rue what might have been after Sold for Song ($14) flew home to finish second, three-quarters of a length behind the winner.

“What a run to come from last but it wasn’t good enough to get a wild card. We will have a think about where we go from here,” Kemp said.
