It isn’t very often that champion hoop Nash Rawiller heads down to Goulburn for a Class 2 on a Friday afternoon. He did that a fortnight ago to ride Love Tap, who cantered in at $1.10. He has won all three of his career starts by a combined nine lengths and will look to add the Gloaming to his ever-improving record. This seems like a stepping stone to a potential run in the Cox Plate before the Victoria Derby, where he is well in the market. From barrier one, the 3YO gelding will get the gun run in transit and prove too classy for this field.
Bucharest was a complete forgive last run when blowing the start at Warwick Farm, where he still only finished 2.5 lengths off the winner. His first two returned impressive wins at Newcastle, and the 1800m looks to be ideal for the Chris Waller-trained colt. From barrier two, James McDonald will look to keep the favourite in a pocket throughout the run, then try to get a break on Love Tap at the top of the straight and give him something to chase.
While most eyes will be on the favourite, perhaps Anthony Cummings and Regan Bayliss can pinch it up in front with Street Dancer. He was an all-the-way leader last start at Newcastle, where he held out some handy gallopers. If he can replicate that performance on Saturday, he will be right in the finish.
