German Guineas winner sold to Hong Kong

German 2000 Guineas winner Knife Edge has joined the list of horses sold to Hong Kong interests and will resume his career in the Asian racing capital.

The three-year-old left trainer Marco Botti’s Newmarket yard on Saturday following the completion of his sale in a private deal.

Knife Edge made a winning debut in the Coolmore colours at Ascot last September and claimed the Classic in Cologne at his fifth start which turned out to be his last for Botti.

“Knife Edge left the yard on Saturday. I am not sure who purchased him as it was done through an agent,” Botti said.

“It is a shame to lose a nice horse, but that is the way it goes regarding international racing. I imagine they had a good offer.

“In my opinion he is a miler but he will probably stay a mile and a quarter and he is the type of horse they want out there.”
