He may not have raced for 18 months but that has not deterred punters who believe former French horse George Patton can win the Listed Carrington Stakes at Rosehill.

Now trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, George Patton was backed from $4.60 to $3.20 when markets opened on Wednesday for Saturday’s feature.

A dual winner in France for trainer Jean-Claude Rouget, George Patton was sent to Hong Kong to further his career but had four barrier trials there without racing.

He has had one trial in Australia for an eye-catching second behind Egyptian Symbol on December 29.

Premiership leader Brenton Avdulla will ride him on Saturday.

Last-start Randwick winner Lanciato was the second-elect on Wednesday at $3.50 ahead of Endless Drama at $4.60.
