Geelong victory for Chris Parnham

Jockey Chris Parnham has broken through for his first winner since his return from injury.

Parnham rode the Leon and Troy Corstens-trained Doom `N’ Boom to an easy four-length win in a 1900m-benchmark race at Geelong on Friday.

A broken foot suffered at the Cranbourne trials in February followed by a serious infection sidelined Parnham until last week when he made his return in Perth.

He received a call-up from Team Corstens to ride in Adelaide last weekend where he partnered Vezelay to a midfield finish in the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes and was just beaten aboard Zebrinz in a support race.

Parnham said he was still short of peak fitness.

“I didn’t think it would take as long as it did to get back but it’s great to be riding again,” Parnham told racing.com.

Parnham has rides in six of the nine races at Caulfield on Saturday.
