Gawler tips & full form for Wednesday, January 31

GAWLER is South Australia’s key meeting this Wednesday and the punters have a great card to look forward to.

A strong eight event meet is going to be a humdinger so let’s get stuck into the action.

Race 1 – Benchmark 56 (1115m)

Ogunde will get to dictate terms from the front of the field here and will prove very hard to beat. The horse drops back in grade sharply and will prove very hard to beat despite lugging topweight.

Race 1 tip: Ogunde to win at Neds

Race 2 – Benchmark 64 (1215m)

Alaskan Jade has placed in its last four races and is the only runner that brings in that kind of form into this race. This is a small drop in grade here which we think will play right into the horse’s hands (hooves?) here.

Race 2 tip: Alaskan Jade to win at Neds

Race 3 – Benchmark 64 (2120m)

Hand To Hand has been working well at a much weaker grade, but we believe it can step it up at Gawler on Wednesday. The Jimmy Choux gelding has been getting it done at Port Lincoln we’re thinking the shift to Gawler will not be a bridge too far.

Race 3 tip: Hand To Hand to win at Neds

Race 4 – Maiden (1720m)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1180853_04]

Frozen Honor can bounce back to its best in an ordinary race. The horse finished second, half a length behind the winner at Strathalbyn in December, and in a weak maiden we are banking on a win here.

Race 4 tip: Frozen Honor to win at Neds

Race 5 – Maiden (1115m)

Party Tiger finished like a freight train back on January 7 at the ‘Bool and we feel it will come into this race fresh and ready to fire. From the perfect gate it will be jumping with them and it should be hard to hold out.

Race 5 tip: Party Tiger to win at Neds

Race 6 – Class 1 Handicap (1215m)

Good Luck Chuck won by a street at Balaklava before the New Year, then went on to skip a few grades and still hold a great account of itself at benchmark 64 level. The horse is in great form and we believe it will continue on with the job.

Race 6 tip: Good Luck Chuck to win at Ladbrokes

Race 7 – Benchmark 60 (1720m)

Art Music is in great form without winning, but we think that changes on Wednesday. In its last three races the horse has finished second in three-straight races, all of which were around a length. The horse gets a claim here which will be hugely beneficial.

Race 7 tip: Art Music to win at Neds

Race 8 – Benchmark 56 (1515m)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1180853_08]

Willochra drops in grade here and will be incredibly hard to beat here. In that BM603U contest, with a bit more luck the Time Thief mare could have won that event, so it would be remiss of us to go against the four-year-old here.

Race 8 tip: Willochra to win at Ladbrokes
