Gauci bows out with a winner at Caulfield
Darren Gauci has returned to applause from the public and his fellow jockeys after riding a winner at Caulfield on his final day of race riding.
The 51-year-old, with more than 2500 winners to his credit, rode Goodwill to victory in the Robert Hunter Handicap on Saturday.
Goodwill was the first of three rides for Gauci on Saturday’s program with the jockey to take up a new role with Racing Victoria as an apprentices’ coach.
