THE Riverina town of Wagga is the second of two NSW venues on Friday.

Daisy Doutes is resuming on Friday. The horse was turned out after a poor showing at the Valley, but before that it had won four straight races. The horse has placed first-up in the past and is the main danger in the opening event.

Mister Steadfast has been racing well after back-to-back fourth placings. The horse has not finished in the money across its six race starts but the son of Keep The Faith has four first-four finishes in its career. We are backing Mister Steadfast to step up in a big way here.

Race 3 – Class 3 (1660m)

The punters have come hard for Danetrille. After opening at $2.75 on early Thursday, the horse has been crunched right in to the $2.30 mark via Neds. Danetrille has only gone down by a combined single length over its last two starts and should be winning this one.

Tougherthantherest is in good form and will be hard to beat here. The horse has won around this grade before, and resumed this preparation with a win followed by a third placing in a tricky field. The son of Street Boss should be winning this one.

Race 5 – Maiden Handicap (1050m)

In a hard to predict maiden handicap, Monkery looks as good as any. The horse has not raced professionally yet, but has trialled well in the lead up. The Myboycharlie runners have had great success lately and we are backing the horse to make a winning debut.

Race 6 – Benchmark 65 (1800m)

In a wide-open affair last-start winner Kiss In The Dark is as good a chance as any. The horse won well at Queanbeyan on December 8, and while this represents a step up in class it gets a 3kg drop in the weights.

Race 7 – Ted Ryder Cup (1660m)

The speedy Mercurial Lad looks to be the best horse in the feature event on the card. Although the horse is making its mile debut, the recent form is hard to fault, which has included a win and two placings from its last five runs. Expect the four-year-old to go forward and be too hard to catch.

We are backing Smiling All at odds to round out the card in style. The horse was not too far off the mark at Bing Bong on November 24, and at this distance the horse has a respectable two placings from five starts. Smiling All can surprise at these odds.
