IN the final race meet in NSW before the Christmas holiday the thoroughbred action returns to Moruya.

Race 1 – Maiden Handicap (920m)

First starter Twirling Moss has trialled well leading into this race and we think it is a good chance of winning on debut. The other runners here are either resuming or have no form to draw upon, so we think the Price-trained gelding can pinch it at the first time of asking.

Race 1 tip: Twirling Moss to win ($4.60 at Neds)

Race 2 – Class 2 Handicap (1300m)

The Houso is seeking a hat-trick in just its third race start. The horse won well last time out at Queanbeyan and while the step-up in trip represents a challenge, we think it is up to it.

The Houso is our next best bet of the day at Moruya

Race 2 tip: The Houso to win ($3.10 at Crownbet)

Race 3 – Benchmark 60 (1425m)

Fui San finished a game fourth at Rosehill last time out, and given it ran so well in the city it should handle the country with aplomb. The horse has a win and two placings from three attempts at the track, so it knows what it takes to win at Moruya.

Race 3 tip: Fui San to win ($2.40 at Neds)

Race 4 – Open Handicap (1010m)

Wonderbolt should be winning this. After two quality return runs the horse will be peaking third-up, where it has previously placed in the past. Last time out the horse only just missed out at Wagga and we think it is well placed to go one better.

Race 4 tip: Wonderbolt to win ($3.30 at William Hill)

Race 5 – Maiden (1300m)

In a huge maiden field Rapture Miss stands out more than most. The horse resumes after just shy of six months away from the track, and prior to being turned out it finished less than half a length off the winner. We are backing a big first-up performance.

Race 5 tip: Rapture Miss to win ($4 at Neds)

Race 6 – Christmas Cup (1300m)

Denman Flyer is looking to record its third-straight victory on Sunday. Two starts back it delivered a stunning six length win before gripping on to win by a nose at the Sapphire Coast on December 4. The tricky barrier is an obstacle to overcome, but the form suggests it will be the horse to beat.

Race 6 tip: Denman Flyer to win ($6 at CrownBet)

Race 7 – Class 1 Handicap (1010m)

We fancy Foxdell to send punters home happy on Christmas eve. The daughter of Foxwedge was second behind Williamson at the beginning of the month at Kembla, and if the filly had a bit more luck it could have taken that race out. Look for it to be rattling home late to take this one out.

Race 7 tip: Foxdell to win $2.75 at CrownBet)
