Full form & tips for Bairnsdale, Friday December 29

WE head to East Gippsland this Friday as Bairnsdale hosts an eight race card to end the working week.

There’s plenty of great action around and we expect there to be some great racing on as the weekend approaches.

We have been on fire on the tip over the last month, so we are confident of delivering a number of winners at Bairnsdale.

Race 1 – Maiden Plate (1200m)

After two average trails, Necessary debuted with an above-expectations third at Moe as a $21 outsider via Neds. We suspect those odds won’t be around on Friday in a particularly week maiden.

Race 2 – Maiden (1000m)

Mamzelle Murdoch has missed out by less than a combined length in its last two starts and looks ready to win. In a field where the next-best last-start finish is sixth, Mamzelle Murdoch stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Race 3 – Maiden Plate (1200m)

Gotta Be A Rokstar is one of only two runners that has previously finished inside the money in this 11 horse field. That placing came last-time out at Bairnsdale, and considering no other galloper in the field has even come close to winning a race recently we are backing the son of Fastnet Rock in to break the maiden at the fifth attempt.

Race 4 – Maiden Plate (2200m)

Referee has finished third in back-to-back events and looks well placed to go well again. Those races were competitive events that have produced winners that look progressive, so if that form is anything to go off Referee is a big chance to shake the maiden tag on Friday.

Race 5 – Benchmark 58 (2000m)

Alienated is a last-start winner that has plenty of promise. While making a benchmark debut after only just breaking the maiden is an onerous task, the four-year-old’s breakthrough was that of a horse that can become a useful type at this grade, and we are backing it in to make it two-from-two.

Race 6 – Benchmark 58 (1000m)

Russian Rick is stepping straight out of maiden grade into a benchmark 58 event but there are a few factors in the horse’s favour. Firstly, the power of the win, which was spectacular, and secondly the enormous drop in weights. With 8kg stripped off its back the horse will not know itself and we are backing a big run.

Race 7 – Benchmark 58 (1600m)

Internship is poised to win this one. The horse has placed in its last two runs, and at this distance the horse has a 50 percent placing record across 10 runs. The Paul & Tracey Templeton runner also has a decent record at the track, placing four times from nine attempts.

Race 8 – Benchmark 58 (1200m)

Soldier’s Opera could be in career-best form right now. The eight-year-old has placed in three consecutive races, the last of which came in a higher grade than this. We are backing the gelding to bring us home in style.
