The quaddie starts on Race 5 with the XXXX Gold Rating 64 Handicap where the well-favoured Nakataan is looking to make it consecutive victories.

Race 5 – XXXX Gold R64 Handicap (2200m)

The Hayes/Dabernig-trained mare Nakataan was a stylish winner at Kilmore last start and the immediate rise in distance looks ideal. The well-bred daughter of Zabeel had been running on well in every start throughout its current campaign and it should be able to kick on with it now. Expect it to be at a short price with bookmakers.

Dollars Not Sense is an underrated mare from the Houlahan/Johnston stables at Cora Lynn and it might fly under the radar again. The four-year-old has been running on well of late, especially last time out on this track where it flew home for fourth behind Barwon. It runs best on this track and it should add some value for quaddie players.

Only the two runners needed in the opening leg. Always risky going short to open up, but Nakataan will be tough to beat and our saver is pretty talented also.

Leg 1 tips: 4, 6

Race 6 – Tab Rating 64 Handicap (1400m)

Oscar Dee won by 1.5 lengths on this track last start and it’s an obvious inclusion here. The three-year-old was able to cross to the lead, find the rail and kick hard in the straight. We’re expecting the talented apprentice Ben Allen to adopt the same tactics from the inside draw and be tough to beat with only 57kg on its back.

Craig Williams partners Absolute Gem which finished last on this track in April. It does have winning experience at Pakenham with a win in June, 2015 and the addition of Williams will help its chances. It can be a untrustworthy type, but it should be included in quaddie bets at the right price.

David Hayes and Tom Dabernig line up Baheej which has battled since winning at Cranbourne four starts back, but more is expected of it this campaign. The well-bred son of Street Cry won its only race second up and with the run at Cranbourne under its belt, it should be a much fitter horse this time in. Odds should be in the mid-range.

Leg 2 tips: 6, 7, 11

Race 7 – Kentucky Derby Research R64 Handicap (1600m)

Kaphni looks a talented gelding from the Godolphin barn which looks ready to win after two improving performances this preparation. The John O’Shea-trained three-year-old has had five starts for one win and three placings and it was last seen running on stylishly at Pakenham. It does rise in weight which is of concern, but Williams rides and punters should come for it.

Iron Spider came for plenty of support at Sandown last start. The Michael Kent-trained gelding opened at $6 and closed as the favourite at $3.20. Its run for second was full of merit after sitting wide at the back, so punters that took the shorts last start should forgive the run. The inside draw will ensure an easy run and it looks a strong winning hope.

Primeiro is worth including at each way odds. The three-time winner has placed on this track from its only start at Pakenham and the dry surface will help its chances. It should sit mid-field with apprentice Jessica Payne in the saddle and it could make a late run at nice odds.

Leg 3 tips: 2, 4, 5

Race 8 – Racing.com R64 Handicap (1200m)

Streetshavenoname has won only three from 33 starts, but it has placed twice at Pakenham which have both come at its last two starts. It has placed 13 times overall and although winning doesn’t come naturally for the five-year-old, it should be included on consistency alone.

The well-named Jawsome won on this track two starts back and it was far from disgraced when second last start. The Allison Sheehan-trained gelding fought back well against a tough horse in Gangster’s Curse and that form should transfer through to this race. Jockey Brian Higgins rides well at these meetings and we expect the price to be on the shorter side.

Bon Jet is our final inclusion because it goes to the front and it goes hard. Pakenham can be a front-runners track and we don’t want to risk leaving out a noted speedster. Its form is good and it should run well again.

Leg 4 tips: 2, 5, 8
