Candy Belt didn’t fire in its first campaign, but it returned well when finishing third last start.

The Kevin Gray-trained runner could get out to each way odds in this and the claimer in the saddle is going to help its chances.

Race 2 – Maiden Handicap (1200m)

Malo Bik has been knocking on the door of a win after two consecutive placings.

The Alan Sharrock-trained colt finished second at Otaki last campaign before returning in December to run second at New Plymouth.

This looks easier and it could go close.

Race 3 – BM65 Handicap (1200m)

Windsor scored by a length on debut at Waipukurau and although the time wasn’t flash, it did come on a slow track.

Japanese rider Masa Tanaka takes over the Chris Johnson in the saddle and his aggressive riding style should suit this loping gelding by Alamosa.

Race 4 – Maiden Plate (1300m)

Foiling was a $17 chance on debut at New Plymouth when finishing fifth and the time was the most impressive aspect.

The four-year-old mare by Showcasing ran 1:09.84 for the 1200m when finishing only two lengths behind the winner and that kind of performance would take her close here.

Race 5 – BM75 Handicap (1400m)

Worldclass might not be world class, but it’s good enough to win at Awapuni.

The six-year-old mare by Iffraaj didn’t fire on this track last start when running seventh behind Temple Tiger, but she scored back-to-back wins earlier in the year and she should be hitting top gear again here.

Race 6 – Summer Cup (1550m)

The winning form of Dolcetto came to an end last start, but its first five wins this preparation were all top class.

Sylvia Kay lines up the five-year-old which has won seven of his 11 starts and the track wasn’t to suit behind Chambord last start.

That’s a strong form line regardless and Dolcetto should prove to be the testing material.

Race 7 – BM75 Handicap (2100m)

Amorata looms as a winning chance after running second at Otaki last start.

That placing came behind Hunta Pence, which scored an easy win at Otaki last Wednesday and it should hold up at this level.

It’s another good ride for Masa Tanaka.

Race 8 – BM65 Handicap (1550m)

Bring to the Block has each way claims here following a campaign which has included a win and two placings.

The four-year-old mare went close behind Eagle Bay at Trentham earlier this month and that form looks good enough to take this out.

Race 8 tip: Bring to the Block to win at Neds.com.au
