Free racing tips for Rosehill Gardens – Saturday, 8 August 2020

Rosehill

A hint of spring is in the air at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday for the running of the Listed Rosebud and the Group 2 Missile Stakes. The track is rated a Soft 7, but there is plenty of rain predicted around Sydney, so we will likely be racing on a Heavy 8 or 9 come the scheduled start at 11:50am AEST. The rail remains in the true position for the entirety of the course.

Saturday betting tips for Rosehill Gardens

Best Bet
Race 2 – Royal Banquet @ $2.35 Neds

We are confident we can get off to a good start early in the day with Royal Banquet (5:4-0-1). Nathan Doyle’s talented up and comer has only been dealt a heavy track once, which came last start when he won by more than five lengths at Warwick Farm. Apprentice Tom Sherry will take the ride and claim 3kg for the Snitzel gelding, getting him in this with only 54.5kg – some 5kg less than his last-start romping. Barrier four sees him settle just off what will be a moderate tempo set by Noble Joey and Frosty Rocks, so we should see him well and truly within striking distance in the straight. He’s one for your blackbook regardless, as he could be a force to be reckoned with in the autumn.

Next Best
Race 8 – Tailleur @ $2.15 Neds

James Cummings saddles up promising sprinter Tailleur in a 1200m Benchmark 78. Drawn ideally in barrier seven, Kerrin McEvoy will make his way over to settle outside the leader or just off it and be right there to go on with the job in the straight. In her only defeat, at her last attempt, she was found out by a severe leader’s bias when second to Killin on the Kensington track. She was a winner prior in very impressive fashion on a Heavy 9 and so will be appreciative of the rain. She looks to be very smart and should win this.

Best Value
Race 5 – Shangani Patrol @ $21 Neds

The staying race of the afternoon has thrown up one at odds that we are keen to back. Matthew Dale’s front-running Shangani Patrol maps to get it all his own way in front, which could see him have the race handed to him on a platter. Drawn wide in gate 10, Robbie Dolan will find the front, stack them up and look to kick away. The horse is a two-time winner over the mile-and-a-half journey and races well on wet tracks (H:6-2-1-1), which will give him a great advantage in this if the others are spotting him a start. He was a winner over this trip on a Heavy 9 back in June and will only have to carry 52kg on Saturday. The $26 is huge overs in a race where Shangani Patrol gets to dictate.
