Free quaddie tips and bookie bonuses for March 16 Newcastle races

THIS week we stay in New South Wales for the Newcastle quaddie, which includes the Newcastle Newmarket Handicap and the Provincial Championships Qualifier, where a good field of 13 runners are vying for a spot at The Championships this April.

The Newmarket has attracted a quality field of sprinters and it looks the most competitive race on the card with the likes of Amovatio, Bull Point and Nancy all in the field.

Leg 1 – Tal Maiden Plate (1350m)

James Cummings lines up Stryker Rose down the bottom of the page and it looks a strong winning chance. The daughter of Stryker finished fourth on debut at Wyong, but the race was run in a quick time of 56.93 for the 1000m. Rising up to this distance should suit it nicely and Berry is a great rider over the sprint distances.

Godolphin runners should always be respected at this level irregardless of their form. Hanika has only battled in two starts to date, but it should give a better showing with James McDonald in the saddle. It has been spelled since running sixth at Canterbury and given this field doesn’t have much depth, it will likely be well favoured in the betting.

Lady Sansa must be included after two handy runs this time in. It has shown consistent form against some nice types and it looks well placed with Reith in the saddle.

Leg 1 tips: 5, 7, 10

Leg 2 – Newcastle Newmarket Handicap (1350m)

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Ecuador has been the best-backed runner in the field at $5. The six-time winner from 22 starts ran on well behind Holler in the Canterbury Stakes and that form should stack up nicely against this opposition. Blake Shinn rides and it’s a must-have quaddie inclusion.

Nancy looks a value pick and we were surprised with the $9 on offer. The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained mare wasn’t suited by conditions last start and it still managed to run a close third at Randwick. It is twice a winner at this distance and it should be tough to beat at 54kg.

Amovatio is worth including after warming up nicely at Canberra last start. The Chris Waller-trained gelding is classy at best and it does have form second up. It was good enough to win the Weekend Hussler at Caulfield just four starts back and having Bowman in the saddle is a big plus.

Leg 2 tips: 3, 4, 14

Leg 3 – The Provincial Championships Qualifier (1350m)

In a wide open field we look towards Daisy Duke to put in a better effort this time around. The Tony McEvoy-trained mare finished eighth in a similar race last start, but it looked the goods in two starts prior, winning both by good margins. It’s a talented mare which gets in well on the weights and it has a nice barrier of two. Currently $6 with bookmakers.

Hetty Heights resumed with an easy 2.8-length win on this track last start and it should continue on with it here. The Kim Waugh-trained mare had been taking on tough company in Sydney, but it shows its best at this level and it should be included in quaddie bets. Bookmakers have it as the current $4 favourite.

Powerline finished fifth behind Supreme Effort last start and second behind His Majesty two back which is the current favourite for the Provincial Championship. This Kris Lees-trained gelding performs better over shorter distances, but Bowman sticks with it and it looks like good each way value at $7.

Leg 3 tips: 1, 10, 11

Leg 4 – Turfcare Australia R65 Handicap (1200m)

Apprentice Andrew Adkins has been riding very well of late and he lines up with Mr Darci in this. The Waller-trained gelding won on debut at Canterbury and has since run some fair races in tougher grades. It resumes with the inside barrier draw here and it should prove tough to beat.

Hammond Lane has won three from nine with four placings and it didn’t have the best of luck last start in the Highway Handicap. It gets a senior rider in the saddle with Hugh Bowman and that could make all the difference. It looks to have enough ability to win at this level and it shouldn’t be left out.

Leg 4 tips: 3, 5
