Free horse betting tips for Saturday’s Moonee Valley Carlyon Stakes Day

Tailleur

We are racing at The Valley on a Soft 7 with more rain projected throughout race day the Moonee Valley track manager Marty Synan has told Punters to expect a heavy track for race day. On the card is the Listed McKenzie Stakes and the Listed Carlyon Stakes, there is some value throughout the card to to the state of the track.

The rail is out 5 metres the entire circuit, so if you are having a punt on races later in the day it may be worth keeping an eye on how the track races. Could quite easily be a leader’s track as we have seen before, but if they’re making ground through the heavy going early we should be in for a good day of racing.

Here are the best horse betting tips for the day.

Best BetRace 2 No. 4 Tailleur to win $1.55 @ Sportsbet

No prizes for coming up with the 4 year old Mare from the Godolphin stable as the best of the day. Tailleur is low level flying this preparation up in Sydney where she has absolutely trotted in last start, leading all the way and has impressed in performances just off the pace and first up actually came from the back of the field to score by half a length.Gets in-form hoop Mark Zahra on board and from barrier 6, he will have plenty of opportunities to get the mare in a solid position and will take a power of beating. Main danger in the race would have to be (#8) Sword Of Mercy who keeps putting up consistent performances throughout this campaign and gets a gun draw from barrier 2.

Next Best BetRace 1 No. 1 Widgee Turf to win $3.90 @ Sportsbet

There may only be 7 runners going around in the opening race of the day, but the quality is right up there. The market has come up with (#4) Coming Around as the favourite at $1.90 and who can blame Punters for loading up on the gelding after his impressive win last up at Flemington. However, he is yet to go around at The Valley and we all know how important that can be. That’s why Widgee Turf (#1) is on top, a proven performer at The Valley (8: 3-3-0) and is a proven wet tracker. Slight query that he hasn’t won in 68 weeks, but the Widgee Turf fans will be hoping Saturday is his day.

Best ValueRace 3 No. 3 Dirty Thoughts each way $9.50 @ Sportsbet

This 3 year old filly has come back this preparation in strong form and at around the $10 mark seems a bit more appealing than the $3 favourite in (#11) Jenni’s Rainbow who has the age old theory of coming from Synthetic to Grass, let alone a potentially heavy track. An awkward barrier is a question mark on Dirty Thoughts, but expect Daniel Moor to try and settle her one off the fence, just off the pace. This filly is on the up and one to keep an eye on throughout the spring.
