Midweek Racing at Warwick Farm, September 6

MIDWEEK racing resumes at Warwick Farm this Wednesday as the west of Sydney hosts an exciting eight-race card.

There are plenty of opportunities for gallopers to put their hands up for some weekend action with a solid showing.

The team at HorseBetting.com.au has been in solid form on the punt across the last two months, and we are confident of another strong performance at this midweek meet.

New customers can get 150 per cent of their first deposit matched up to $600 in bonus bets.

This means, for instance, a deposit of $400 will ensure you have $1000 to wager this Wednesday afternoon.

Race 1 – TAB Maiden Handicap (1400m)

Furlana looks set to win after two solid maiden performances in the past. The Peter and Paul Snowdon filly has finished third and second across its two career runs. Jumping from barrier four with a slight relief in the weights over the other key market elect, it has no excuses.

Topweight Cuba has been racing in much stronger company than what it will confront on Wednesday. Third up at the Farm, where it has placed in the past, will boost the confidence of connections who will be hoping the horse can break the maiden grade at the fifth time of asking.

Race 2 – Casino Prince @ Vinery Maiden Plate (1200m)

In a field that has six first-starters in the eight-runner field, Our Mantra looks to be the best-placed runner given it has racing experience. The horse has previously finished in the placings first-up and after a four-month break it should come in cherry ripe and ready to win.

A three-year-old colt out of Pierro, Fresh Start was purchased as a $360,000 yearling and with that comes the weight of expectation. The Waterhouse and Bott runner won a public trial at the tail end of August and after drawing barrier three we expect a strong showing on debut.

Race 3 – McGrath Estate Agents BM77 (1300m)

Chris Waller-trained I Am Serious is looking to continue a magnificent start to its career. The four-year-old has won three times and finished second across its four career starts. In a smaller field jumping from barrier one will not be a problem. I Am Serious is the horse to beat.

Stablemate Canberra looks to be the next-best option in the market to oppose the favourite. In its last three runs the horse has won twice and finished second. The only query here is two unplaced runs at the Farm but the mare looks ready to make a sustained impact.

Race 4 – Schweppes BM74 (1000m)

Timing is racing in great form and will be the horse to beat here. Last time out as a short-priced favourite the Joe Pride runner saluted under duress and we are expecting an improvement on that run today. The horse has had a very brief layoff of three weeks and will be ready to go here.

Experienced mare Phoebe’s Lass is looking to improve its last-start third at this track two weeks ago. The five-year-old has never missed a placing at this distance over four runs and the form over course and trip also reads well given it has a second and a third placing over two runs.

Race 5 – TAB Rewards BM71 (1200m)

Portelli runner Sebring Express is out of the terrific sire Sebring and also takes in tremendous form in on Wednesday. After a win and a second placing to weekend graded runner Regimen last time out, it gets its chance to bounce back well here.

Godolphin filly Vellor is seeking to go back-to-back after a breakthrough win at Hawkesbury. The three-year-old looks to be a progressive type and has been making headway at each of its starts. Jumping from barrier 10 is a slight concern but the horse has the early speed to go forward or slot in if the opportunity arises.

Race 5 tip: Vellor to win ($13 at CrownBet.com.au)

Race 6 – #TheRaces BM70 (2200m)

The aptly named Ready For Success comes into race six on the back of a narrow defeat at Warwick Farm on August 23. The horse also has a decent record at the track after placing twice across three runs at the Farm. The four-year-old is in quality form and will take some beating from the inside draw given it has decent early speed.

Five-year-old Street Spun makes its Warwick Farm debut but after placing four times from five previous runs the formline cannot be faulted. There are some concerns about the clockwise pathway given the horse has run almost exclusively at Victorian tracks but it will be right in the mix if it can settle in the run.

Race 6 tip: Ready For Success to win ($7 at CrownBet.com.au)

Race 7 – Hyland Race Colours BM78 (1300m)

Red Knot looks ready to return to form. After saluting on debut in February, the horse went on to win the next two races but has not won since. Other than an ordinary run on August 26, however, the horse has finished within a head of the winner at Rosehill and at Scone at a barrier trial. Racing second up, where it has previously won and placed twice across four runs, also boosts our confidence.

Regent is expected to make a big impact on Wednesday. The highly rated Godolphin colt won brilliantly on debut at Canterbury, but failed on its second-up attempt at the Gold Coast. The horse should return a more mature runner after a green showing at the Gold Coast and we anticipate a sharp improvement.

Race 8 – TAB.com.au BM75 (1600m)

Royal Navy comes into the final race on the card as the short-priced favourite in a huge field, and for good reason. The horse made an inauspicious return to racing at the Farm on August 23, but it looked like it needed the run. Royal Navy’s second-up run form is sensational, however, having won once and placing a second time over two runs.

Art Of Excellence is a horse we rate very highly. Three of its previous four runs have yielded victories, but we have a slight concern over the wide draw and the lack of form at Warwick Farm. The class cannot be denied, however, and we think it will be one for the exotic players on Wednesday.

Race 8 tip: Royal Navy to win ($2.90 at CrownBet.com.au)
