Free form and tips for Moonee Valley, Friday December 15

December 1 tips from Moonee Valley

THE last Friday night meeting of the Moonee Valley Friday Night Lights season is upon us and we’re looking to make the final encounter a memorable one.

We have plenty of well-graded races and the Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge is always an entertaining contest, which meant plenty of fun putting together the form on this one.

It’s the last Friday night meeting of 2017, so we’re committed to making this one count.

Race 1 – Class 1 Handicap (1528m)

If Sinjaree can get a change of luck on its last-start sixth at Bendigo at the beginning of the month it will be well in commission here. The O’reilly colt was hampered severally in the latter stages of the race and subsequently didn’t fire a shot, but the two runs prior it only missed out by a nose on debut before winning the very next race.

Noya is a runner that continues to improve after every race, culminating in its last-start win at Benalla. The horse won that race quite convincingly in a display that suggests there is plenty to worth with for the Cerchi racing team.

Race 1 tip: Sinjaree to win at Neds

Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1200m)

After recording back-to-back second placings, Another Flag looks set to finally break the maiden tag. Missing out by less than a length on both occasions, and across its four career starts the horse has never been too far away. From barrier 11 we anticipate the horse will hunt for the lead and be hard to hold out.

Pamela Joy has never been far off the mark across its four career starts finishing inside the first three on every occasion. Last time out the horse missed out by just over half a length, and only narrowly went down to Bel Sonic three starts ago, and that horse has gone to win in weekend grade. Pamela Joy looks to be the best bet here.

Race 2 tip: Pamela Joy to win at at Unibet

Race 3 – Benchmark 64 (1200m)

Doves Cry comes into this race as a live chance following an impressive debut at Ballarat on November 28. The daughter of Street Cry took that maiden event out by a length, and while it rises slightly in weight that win caught our eye and we are expecting the horse to progress.

Magnesium Rose is racing for the second time at Moonee Valley after finishing second in the same grade it will confront on Friday night. Its debut win at Bairnsdale was impressive, and the horse trialled well following that success. Everything points towards a rock solid run under lights on Friday.

Race 3 tip: Magnesium Rose to win at Sportsbet

Race 4 – Benchmark 70 (1600m)

Silent General is hunting a third-straight success after backing up its strong maiden win at Sandown at the beginning of the month. The horse actually drops down in weights slightly for this contest which is surprising, but we’re not going to complain.

Shauquin has three thirds and a win this preparation, and has been hanging around this grading since breaking the maiden. The horse has not been over two lengths away from the winner at any stage this campaign and there is no reason to question the gelding’s form heading into this race.

Silent General is our best bet of the night at Moonee Valley.

Race 4 tip: Silent General to win at William Hill

Race 5 – Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge Benchmark 70 (955m)

Another edition of the Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge is upon us and the red-hot form of Belwazi is impossible to ignore heading into this race. Across its three runs this preparation the horse has registered three wins, including a win in heat six of the challenge earlier this month.

Belwazi is our next-best bet of the night at Moonee Valley.

The best chance of upsetting our selection is Rockets Red Glare, which is having its second run back after resuming in winning style. The horse has placed twice from four attempts and while it has never experienced the Valley track, it is a short-course specialist.

Race 5 tip: Bold Approach to win $10 at Ladbrokes

Race 6 – Benchmark 64 (1200m)

She’s Nic’n Off is a chance to make it two from two after winning last time out at Geelong at razor-thin odds. The strength of that win suggests there’s plenty of progressive qualities around this mare and we are backing the four-year-old to have another strong run.

John Sadler runner Justsimmer is a chance to remain undefeated after winning its maiden race at Geelong. The horse destroyed the field by five lengths in the most eye-catching race of the day. No reason to think it will not continue on with the job here.

Race 6 tip: Justsimmer to win at CrownBet

Race 7 – Benchmark 70 (2040m)

After two less than stellar performances we’re giving Last Week one more chance. The horse finished like a steam-train two starts ago at Sandown and just missed out, and as an even-money favourite it failed to fire at the Valley, going down to Roseberry Street by just over a length. The Weir runner is a classy operator that needs to get back to its best.

Whistler Bowl broke the maiden tag in blistering fashion last week, winning by just shy of three lengths. The horse jumps straight into benchmark 70 grade, which is always tough, but the 2kg relief will be greatly beneficial. There is somewhat of an unknown factor, but if the horse can perform well here it might be the horse to follow in the future.

Race 7 tip: Last Week to win at Sportsbet

Race 8 – Benchmark 70 (1600m)

Roseberry Street beat out Last Week last week in strong fashion to record its second consecutive win. The horse gets a sharp rise in the weights, which could hamper it, but beating a quality horse like Last Week is always good form to draw upon.

Reigning In Paris is coming off a strong win at Pakenham and will be right in the mix here. Having won three times over the distance in the past boosts our confidence immensely, and from barrier two it might need some luck, but the horse is classy enough to make an impact.

Race 8 tip: Roseberry Street to win $6.50 at Neds
