Race 3 – Mr Mosaic @ $2.10 Sportsbet
Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou saddle up the promising Mr Mosaic in what looks a very winnable race for the four-year-old son of Rubick. First up since November, the two-time winner has won two trials coming into this, by 8L and 3.8L respectively. The latter of those came against Prime Candidate, who bolted in at Rosehill on Saturday. Drawn beautifully in barrier two, it’s likely that Robbie Dolan will kick up and either lead or park outside of Junglized, who also likes to race on the speed and is drawn inside him. His last start at the end of his previous campaign came at this track when 8.4L off the talented Fituese while carrying the top weight, so we are happy to forgive that performance. Dolan has ridden him in both trial wins and was aboard on debut, so he knows the horse well and should get the win here.
Race 5 – Miyake @ $3.80 Sportsbet
James McDonald and Chris Waller combine in the fifth with the likeable Miyake. He offered plenty at the start of the year, winning his maiden well before running second to Kiss The Bride at his next start at Canterbury over 1900m. He failed first up last prep on a very heavy Warwick Farm track before going on to win comfortably at BM70 level on a dry surface. Both wins have come on good going, so the son of Deep Impact should relish the conditions here. Drawn in barrier three, he’ll have plenty of time to relax and find a position before going away with the prize in the straight. He looks a promising type and should measure up to Saturday grade at some point this campaign.
