Free betting tips for Randwick – Saturday, 20 June 2020

Snitz

Saturday racing goes to Royal Randwick for a nine-race program. Yet again, Sydney racing will be on a Heavy 9 track with plenty of rain around. The rail goes into the true position for the entire course. The first race is scheduled to jump at 11:30am AEST, with the final event on the program to be run at 4:25pm.

Randwick racing tips & value bets

Best Bet
Race 8 – Mr Dependable @ $3.80

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott saddle up just the one runner at Randwick on Saturday with their talented Reliable Man gelding, Mr Dependable. The 4yo returned three weeks ago with a fourth behind True Detective at Rosehill on a heavy track. True Detective has since won again, which is a big tick for Mr Dependable’s form. Second up, the gelding is unbeaten from two starts and is one from one at the Randwick mile. He should lead from barrier 14 and has one of the best front-running riders engaged in Tim Clark, who has ridden the grey in five starts for two wins. Waterhouse and Bott had a fantastic autumn and we are happy to follow them in with their sole Sydney Saturday runner.

Next Best
Race 4 – Mount Popa @ $3.40

The Hawkes camp are sending their import Mount Popa around for just his second Australian start in a 2000m Benchmark 78. The 5yo ran a great fourth in his Down Under debut at Flemington over 1400m on a soft track, which was an unsuitable trip. He’s been sent north to Sydney and will make the step up to the 2km, where he has placed twice from two starts. Tommy Berry takes the ride and should settle slightly worse than midfield from gate seven. The wet track is a slight concern, as Mount Popa has never won on a bog from three starts (3:0-0-2). The gelding has only missed a place once in his career, which came last start when fourth. His Australian debut was promising and he can only improve second up and rising in distance. Just another weapon in the Hawkes arsenal for the Spring Carnival.

Best Value
Race 2 – Bad Boy For Love @ $9

Bad Boy For Love was well backed when we found him last start shortening from $26 into as short as $9 in a similar race to this one. On that occasion, he was drawn out in the carpark and posted wide without cover for a good while before finishing strongly over the 1100m. Kerrin McEvoy stays on and finds himself jumping from barrier one, which will be far more manageable than 17. Despite only placing once from five starts at the 1200m, his last run suggested that the rise in trip will be beneficial. The Wanted gelding has finished in the numbers four times from 10 starts on a wet track, so the heavy going won’t be an issue. He will need some luck from the inside draw, but we are happy to stick with him at the backable each-way quote.
