COUNTRY racing is what we target this Friday where Kempsey hosts an eight-race betting card.

Kempsey is one of the more likable race tracks in New South Wales, so we’ve done the form and come up with our best tips for every race.

The fields have come up evenly which makes for great value and punters could cash in before the busy weekend of racing starts.

The Kempsey card starts with the Kempsey RSL Bowling Club Handicap at 12.10pm.

Race 1 – Kempsey RSL Bowling Club Handicap (1000m)

Deneeky is coming off a last start win and it looks to have good ability for trainer Kris Lees. The two-year-old filly by Denman has had four starts for two wins and one placing, with two wins coming at this distance. It should get a good trip in transit from the barrier and be tough to beat.

Odds Or Evens scored an easy win on this track two back and its subsequent run came in a tough race. The Colt Prosser-trained filly finished seventh at Casino behind Guissola which has subsequently run well in town. It gets the inside draw to rebound from that effort and it should prove its worth.

Race 2 – Heritage Hotel Gladstone Plate (1250m)

Rocket Monkey comes from the Prosser stables and it has good each way credentials. The three-year-old son of Congrats has placed in four of its five starts at this distance and it scored a solid win two back at Armidale. It likes the sting out of the ground and this looks a suitable target.

Little Shocker doesn’t have great form this campaign, but it’s better than that. The Lees-trained three-year-old won here at its only start and has since taken on some tough company. It ran in the Magic Millions Country Cup in January and it likely needed two runs back this preparation. It should prove hard to handle at this level.

Race 3 – West Kempsey Hotel Maiden (1900m)

Parnossos is a talented type which is good form and punters should be following it. The Allan Denham-trained gelding has won only one of its 14 starts, but it has six placings and form on all track surfaces. Its win came only three starts back at Port Macquarie and that form should hold at this level.

The World Over is another Lees-trained runner with a chance. The son of Makfi has shown promise, but has yet to win from its six career attempts. It was unable to find anything in town at Warwick Farm last start, but it carried 59kg on that day and dropping to 56.5kg against an easier field is ideal. Punters should follow any positive betting moves.

Race 4 – O’Donnell & Hanlon Maiden (1450m)

Chui should have broken maiden grades by now, but can’t seem to get over the line. The Neil Godbolt-trained four-year-old placed at its only start on this track and the former Victorian runner prefers this distance. It produced a good run on a heavy track two back at Taree to finish second and it’s a chance here if it can replicate that form.

Valley Crossing has placed in four from 12 starts and it wasn’t far behind them at Port Macquarie last time out. The John Shelton-trained mare prefers the sting out of the track having had nine starts for three placings and it won’t have to spend a penny from the inside barrier. Not the worst at odds with bookmakers.

Race 4 tip: Chui to place at Bet365.com

Race 5 – Kempsey Macleay RSL Club Handicap (1450m)

Hurricane Harbour has drawn deep for jockey Andrew Gibbons, but it has some class on its side. The Mitch Newman-trained three-year-old comes into this having placed at Goulburn last start and it hasn’t produced a poor effort in eight career attempts. It has yet to finish outside of the placings at this distance and it goes on top with some luck.

Son Of Justice has won only one of 13 starts, but it should get conditions to suit here after running last on a heavy track at Sunshine Coast. The Kevin Sempf-trained gelding didn’t fire in the conditions last start, but its form prior included three placings and a win at Gold Coast. That came by three lengths so the quality is there and it just needs things to go its way.

Race 6 – Kempsey Macleay Motors Handicap (1250m)

Our Instinct turned around some horrible form to score at big odds last start. The Godbolt-trained two-year-old was struggling on good tracks, but it relished the heavy ground and if it gets similar conditions it could run well again. Expect its odds to be much shorter on this occasion if the rain continues.

Ayda brings each way form to the fore after scoring three consecutive placings this campaign. The four-year-old by Ad Valorem hasn’t quite shown its best since those efforts, but it likes this distance and its chances will excel with a better track. Conditions will be key for many runners in this, including Ayda.

Race 7 – Akubra Hats June Sprint (1000m)

Gendebien has plenty of pace and this distance is ideal. The Paul Perry-trained gelding is a two-time winner at this distance and it scored a nice victory last start. The four-year-old son of Sebring has shown form at higher levels than this and punters should expect to see Paul King jump and run from barrier two.

Lucky Meteor is a 10-time winner which finished behind Gendebien last start, but it would have appreciated the hit out. The Shelton-trained six-year-old wins one in every three starts which is a good clip and it’s another runner which has shown form at higher levels than this. It carries 61kg for this, but class will take it a long way.

Race 7 tip: Gendebien to win at Bet365.com

Race 8 – XXXX Gold Handicap (1000m)

Isthmian could end the day on a high for Kris Lees. The I Am Invincible filly is a winner of three from eight starts and it was just run off its feet behind Gendebien last start over 900m. It gets back to a distance it prefers and it looms as a major winning hope.

Navua Mist is a stablemate which is rarely too far away from the action. The daughter of Exceed And Excel has won twice at this distance and is looking to improve after finishing fourth at Taree last start. It ran well for second when fresh up this campaign and it should lob into a nice position.
