Flemington win gives Fidelia four in a row

Fidelia will be set for Group One Empire Rose Stakes after making it four wins on end at Flemington.

Trainer Robbie Griffiths has his eyes set on a Group One spring feature after Fidelia stretched her winning sequence to four at Flemington.

Backing up from success at Flemington a week ago, Fidelia added Saturday’s Donate to NJTappeal.com.au Trophy to her growing record.

Ridden by Jye McNeil, Fidelia was sent off the $2.25 favourite in scoring a half-length win from Adversary ($7.50) with Titan Blinders ($18) three-quarters-of-a-length away third.

Griffiths said the filly would now have a month’s break before embarking on a four-run spring campaign culminating in the Group One Empire Rose Stakes at Flemington on November 2.

“The plan is to run in the Cockram at the end of August into three Flemington runs, the Let’s Elope Stakes the Blazer Stakes and then the Empire Rose,” Griffiths said.

“We had the time to give her a run today and still give her four weeks in the paddock as of Monday and be back ready for the spring.”

Griffiths said he had no concerns about backing Fidelia up.

He said the filly had bounced out of her box on Sunday morning.

“Her bloods were perfect, she was perfect,” Griffiths said.

“Sometimes in the spring you have to back-up and it’s nice to know we can.

“It was a bit of as task today coming off a seven-day back-up and carrying a lot of weight against the boys.”
