Saturday racing tips for Flemington
Nine races are set down for judgement on Saturday afternoon as Flemington hosts its final meeting of 2020. For the first time since March, there will be spectators at the venue as 5,000 lucky patrons grace the lawns and kiosks of Racing HQ. The rail is set in the true position and the track is a Good 4 at the time of writing, but a wet forecast in the lead up suggests we may be racing on rain-affected ground come Saturday. The first at Flemington is set to jump at 12:55pm AEDT.
It’s hard not to get excited by the impressive start Written Miss has made to her career. Having been successful in both starts to date, we’re tipping the three-year-old filly to make it three from three. She maps to get an easy time of it up in front, and we don’t see too many troubles for her as long as she can handle the Flemington straight. Her second win was more or less a carbon copy of her first, where she was asked for an effort over the final furlong and responded to kick clear of her rivals. With Jason Benbow retaining the ride, you would expect a very similar approach.

We were with Re Edit three weeks ago at Moonee Valley when she was too strong over the concluding stages and swamped the leaders in the last 50m. She looked to be struggling as she cornered in that race, but when she got going she was far too good to hold out. From barrier three, expect Craig Williams to get her in the running line so she can build through her gears uninterrupted.

Brent Stanley and Mark Zahra combine with this five-year-old gelding who was a last-start second in the Wodonga Cup when chasing home the in-form Vungers, who goes around earlier in the meeting. He’s been successful over the 1400m at Flemington previously and just needs a chance at the top of the straight to be fighting out the finish in this.
