Flemington is the destination for the first metropolitan meeting of the Victorian winter this Saturday, when a nine-race meeting is scheduled. Showers are predicted for Melbourne on Friday, with a similar forecast for race day, meaning the track will be no better than the initial Soft 7 rating. The rail will be out 8m, with the first event set to jump at 11:55am AEST.
Best Bet at Flemington: Jimmy The Bear
Jimmy The Bear brought up an overdue win at Caulfield on May 31, and on the quick seven-day backup, he can bring up his first win at the Flemington 1600m at the third time of asking. Tom Prebble will take the son of Jimmy Creed towards the rear of the field upon settling, and with a genuinely run mile expected, the race sets up perfectly for Jimmy The Bear to overhaul his rivals in the shadows of the winning post.

Pivot City was a determined winner first-up at the Flemington 1200m on March 1, and four starts later he will be looking to add another victory at the track and trip to his record. The four-year-old has chased home a few smart ones since and was eye-catching in defeat at Caulfield last time out, when he was tight for room at stages and only went down by two lengths. Harry Coffey will likely have the son of Not A Single Doubt towards the rear of the field, but with a back to follow and a well-timed sprint, Pivot City has the turn of foot to overhaul his rivals late on.

Runlikenencryption had her undefeated record ended by a narrow margin at the Flemington 1100m on May 17 at start three, but with the experience down the straight under her belt, she is poised to bounce back. The Encryption filly was having her first look at a rain-affected track on that day and appeared to handle it well, meaning the conditions on the weekend should be no issue. Lachlan King will have her settled just off the speed, and if the breaks go her way at the right time, Runlikenencryption looks a great bet at $11 with horse betting sites.
