Flemington full form & tips for Saturday, January 20
RACING HQ in Victoria is back hosting racing this Saturday.
There’s an action-packed nine races headlined by the Listed Kensington Stakes (1000m), and we cannot wait for what the day will bring.

Race 1 – Benchmark 84 (1800m)

We’re big fans of what Portion Control brings to the race track. The Hayes, Hayes and Daberning runner always gives 100 percent in its racing and the last-start third was encouraging. We’re suggesting a place play to kick off the day.

Race 2 – Doriemus Handicap (2500m)

Last Week is an ultra-consistent runner which is always a winning chance. The horse snapped a sequence of seconds two-starts back in spectacular fashion before just missing out on New Years Day behind stablemate Civil Disobedience. The horse steps up in journey, but gets a huge weight relief.
Race 2 tip: Last Week to win ($2.65 at Neds)
Race 3 – Benchmark 70 (2000m)

Our selection in the previous race was smashed by our pick for race three Civil Disobedience, and we believe it will record a third-straight win here. The horse steps up significantly in weights, but we think it’ll handle it nicely.

Race 4 – Benchmark 84 (2000m)

So Splendid has been desperately unlucky in its last two runs and connections would be entitled to feel robbed. The horse was pipped by Addision on Boxing Day before missing out by a head behind Shenandoah two weeks ago. So Splendid confronts both horses in this race, but gets a 3kg relief on both rivals.

Race 5 – Benchmark 70 (1600m)

Patriot Act has won two races from its last three starts and in a big field we’re happy to play the place here in a huge field. The horse has won at benchmark 64 level, and while this is a slight step-up in grading, it looks capable.
Race 5 tip: Patriot Act to place ($4.20 at William Hill)
Race 6 – Benchmark 84 (1200m)

Just Hifalutin has been in glittering form recently. The horse won three starts back before placing in back-to-back events by a combined one and a half lengths. It’s a step-up in grading but drops significantly in weight and we’re backing the quality form to continue.
Race 6 tip: Just Hifalutin to win ($5.50 at William Hill)
Race 7 – Inglis Dash (1100m)

If you didn’t know Nature Strip is running around in the Dash and we’d be out of a job if we were suggesting anything else other than the superstar sprinter. The horse produced the most eye-catching run of 2018 to date at Sandown on January 10 and a similar run is predicted.

Race 8 – Kensington Stakes (1000m)

Flamberge resumes on Saturday and a brilliant record of four wins and three placings from nine attempts suggests a quality run will be in the offing. No other horses stand out in the feature and we’re more than happy to take the generous odds on the first-up eight-year-old.

Race 9 – Benchmark 84 (1400m)

Wise Hero has been in great form since resuming on December 9 and looks poised here. The horse missed out by a combined two parts of a length before going on to record a strong win on New Years Day at Flemington. Wise Hero will spear out from barrier nine and lead from the front.
