SUPERSTAR filly Egg Tart has justified the short price across the board in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m) after unleashing a withering burst down the outside to win at Doomben on Saturday.

Kerrin McEvoy left the three-year-old with plenty to do heading into the turn but the $3.10 favourite at Sportsbet.com.au hit the front late in the piece and ran away to claim the crown.

Pyhmy made up late ground from the back of the field to claim second, returning $8.10 at Crownbet.com.au, while Egg Tart’s stablemate Oklahoma Girl ($2.70 at Bet365.com.au) was just behind in third.

Chris Waller said Egg Tart has the world at its feet.

“She’s got a good record and I think the best is yet to come; she’s not furnished yet,” the champion trainer said.

“I just like horses running consistently and secondly winning by a big margin, which she’s done a few times.

“She switches off, relaxes in her training and life in general – she’s a happy horse.”

Kerrin McEvoy agreed with Waller’s sentiments, saying Egg Tart can improve even further.

“She’s a little star. She’s not very big, but when your ride her she’s got a motor,” he said.

“The sky’s the limit; she’s only going to get better. She’ll furnish a bit more.”
