Race 1 – Breeders’ Plate (1000m)

Hiemal looks an impressive on debut for James Cummings. The two-year-old colt won a trial at Canterbury by over a length and Godolphin don’t usually stretch their juveniles out much at the trials. The son of Exceed and Excel looks like a Astern-type in the making and the odds of $4.40 are appealing.

Performer looks the biggest danger after winning a trial at Canterbury. The Chris Waller-trained colt is also by Exceed and Excel and the betting suggests it’s ready to win. It’s on the same line as Hiemal at $4.40 and betting moves on the day will indicate their chances.

Race 1 tip: Hiemal to win ($4.40) at Bet365.com

Race 2 – Gimcrack Stakes (1000m)

Witherspoon is a well-named filly for Brad Widdup which looked good at the trials. The filly by Exceed and Excel is bred to sprint early in its career and its two-length win at Canterbury held plenty of merit. The early money has come for it so consider as a winning chance.

Now or Never is from the powerful Gary Portelli and Darby Racing stables. They have had great success over the last few years and this filly looks capable of producing the goods on debut. It finished second in a trial in preparation for this and it looked to have more in the tank. Chance at each way odds.

Race 2 tip: Witherspoon to win ($3.70) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 3 – Dulcify Quality (1600m)

Tangled was scratched from racing midweek at Rosehill which prompts us to believe it could be good enough to win here. The Waller-trained three-year-old won the Champagne Classic at Doomben in May and although its form since hasn’t been top notch, it will appreciate this grade and it’s over the odds at $13.

Sambro is the stablemate to Tangled and it has Joao Moreira in the saddle. The three-year-old colt was a winner at Warwick Farm in May before running fifth in the J.J. Atkins and second last start at midweek level. This is harder, but it has been confidently backed and the extra distance should be ideal.

Race 4 – Hill Stakes (1800m)

Sense of Occasion won the Group 1 Doomben Cup last preparation and resumed with a run against Winx in the Chelmsford Stakes. It was always going to be out-paced in that, but it shapes up better here and it has had plenty of experience on this track. The eight-time winner is having its 14th start at Randwick and it’s a winning hope at $4.20.

Mackintosh is a quality type for Chris Waller which battled behind Winx in the George Main. The New Zealand-bred stayer was good enough to run fourth in the Railway Stakes over the mile last year and it’s now getting up to the distance which it’s best suited at. This looks an ideal target and there’s not much opposition compared to what it’s used to.

Race 4 tip: Mackintosh to win ($3) at Topbetta.com.au

Race 5 – Flight Stakes (1600m)

Alizee couldn’t have been more impressive when winning the Tea Rose Stakes last start. The Cummings-trained filly had been close behind Formality in two starts prior, but it showed great ability to score an easy win last start and it could continue on its winning ways. The daughter of Sepoy looks like a nice miler and the punters are getting in behind it at $2.70.

It’s about time Champagne Cuddles won another race, but it’s backing up for three straight weeks and that’s tough. The Bjorn Baker-trained filly ran second in the Tea Rose before backing up and running second in the Golden Rose. That was some effort, but it’s bound to be tired and punters should be weary of that. Can’t deny its talent, however.

Race 5 tip: Alizee to win ($2.70) at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 6 – Premiere Stakes (1200m)

English didn’t get a great ride from Blake Shinn last start, but punters are questioning its desire to win. The Waterhouse/Bott-trained mare hasn’t won for awhile now, but it stuck on well for third behind Redzel last start and it should take good fitness from that. Drawing barrier nine might force it wide again, but consider for the win at odds of $5.

Chautauqua is the boom horse of the field and its run last start was enormous. The Hawkes-trained champion sprinter has won almost $10 million and it could add some more cash to the bank with a win here. It flashed home to finish seventh in The Shorts and the extra distance is going to help. It’s an eight-time winner over this distance and watch for it putting in the big bounds late.

Race 6 tip: Chautauqua to win ($3.30) at Topbetta.com.au

Race 7 – Epsom Handicap (1600m)

Happy Clapper produced a great run in the George Main Stakes behind Winx and it was quickly installed as the favourite following that run. The 2017 Doncaster Mile winner is a four-time winner on this track and despite some quality types running here at light weights, it gets in relatively well on the weights. Currently the $3 favourite.

Egg Tart has won six of its nine starts and that was a good indication of its ability last start. The Waller-trained winner of the Schweppes Oaks and Queensland Oaks resumed for a placing in the Theo Marks behind Deploy and that’s good form. It has good form second up and it gets into this with only 51kg on its back. The only worry is how much of a head start will it be giving Happy Clapper?

Race 7 tip: Egg Tart to place ($2.10) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 8 – The Metropolitan Handicap (2400m)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1139456_08]

Libran caused a big upset when winning the Kingston Town Stakes last start. The Waller-trained stayer has been known to prefer wet tracks, but its record suggests otherwise and it relished the dry ground last start. It’s a three-time winner at this distance and it saves its best for Randwick. It doesn’t often put two wins together, but $5 is a fair price.

Stablemate Antonio Giuseppe is nearing another win after finishing second behind Libran last start. It just came to the end of its run after looming up to them at the top of the straight, but it will improve with three runs under its belt this campaign. Waller is keen on this runner and the former Kiwi looks set for its seventh win from 17 starts.

Race 8 tip: Antonio Guiseppe to win ($5) at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 9 – BM90 Handicap (1200m)

Tango Rain fought well to the line behind Zumbelina last start and it shouldn’t have lost any admirers. The Gerald Ryan-trained runner was a good winner prior to that and it always puts itself in the race. That makes it tough to beat and punters are getting a fair price at $3.90.

I Thought So was hyped last time out when running fourth at Randwick. The David Pfieffer-trained gelding had good trial form leading into the race, but it only battled to the line. It’s unbeaten second up which is ideal and it won’t have to do much work from barrier four. Chance.

Race 9 tip: I Thought So to place ($1.70) at CrownBet.com.au
