Emerald racing tips & best bets – Tuesday, 1 September 2020
Spring racing is now officially here, and we head to rural Queensland on Tuesday for an eight-race card at Emerald. The track is rated a Soft 5 with the rail in the true position, and the first race will jump at 12:57pm AEST.
Tuesday racing tips for Emerald
Race 8 – Miraculous @ $2.20
The Rockhampton form looks to be a clear standout at Emerald today, and one horse brings clearly superior form to the Gemfields in Adrian Coome’s Miraculous. The four-year-old Rubick mare won two of her last four at Rocky and placed in the other two behind some smart ones in Parisian Tycoon and Chezblack. She gets into this race with just 53.5kg and the services of Corey Bayliss, who should give her every possible from barrier nine over 1000m. She was an even-money favourite on Wednesday night and should justify that quote here.
Race 7 – Coach @ $2.35
Rodney Hay saddles up his Denman gelding in the BM50 event after he ran well in a BM65 at Rockhampton last start and won a BM55 the start prior. He draws perfectly in gate seven under Dan McGillivray, who should settle midfield on the five-year-old. Coach finished a very close second to Quidni three starts back before going on to win well over a mile at Rocky. All he needs to do is repeat that effort to be too good for these at this class. The 2kg claim will be extremely beneficial to get him down to 61.5kg. He looks the testing material.
Race 3 – Addicted @ $3.70
Glenda Bell’s talented gelding comes into this event at a touch overs in the 1300m BM65. The seven-year-old by Northern Meteor rarely puts in a bad race and goes very well on his home track (5:2-1-1). Coming off a second to stablemate The Baker looks very good form for a race like this given he started favourite in last year’s Country Cups Championship final at Doomben. Drawn ideally in barrier three and assisted by Marnu Potgieter’s 3kg claim, he should land in a great spot behind leaders Bound To Me, Zendaye and Art Of Dance and get over the top of them late. If he brings his best form, he should be too good for them.
