El Divino trails well ahead of Run To The Rose

El Divino

THE Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained El Divino had an exhibition trial at Randwick on Saturday and the signs were positive heading into the Group 2 Run To The Rose.

The half-brother to Winx – which runs at $1.35 in the Warwick Stakes later in the day, worked alongside stablemate Prompt Response over 1000 metres. El Divino drew level in the final 200 metres before narrowly edging out its stablemate on the line.

Hugh Bowman has ridden the high-profile colt in two barriers trials this season was again aboard and he was pleased with the effort.

“I didn’t get much of a feel of him in his second barrier trial because the ground was dreadful and he wasn’t overly comfortable,” Bowman said.

“I was reluctant to push him in that trial but I was pleased with him back on top of the ground today, he’s ready to go.”

The unbeaten son of Snitzel is currently paying $11 in the Group 1 Golden Rose next month with Saturday’s Up And Coming Stakes winner Divine Prophet now the favourite at $7 with CrownBet.com.au.
